The Video That Started It All

The Video That Started It All

As mentioned on the “What is ArtBloom?” page, some of the inspiration for this website came from a video with Ira Glass of This American Life, originally hosted on Current.tv. While giving some advice on creation, Ira makes the point that all beginning creative professionals have a significant gap between what he calls their taste (the ability to recognize a well-done story) and their skill, or what they are able to produce. Most creators, he says, never make it past this point in their development…and from personal experience, I agree that this trend is all too common.

Whether your ambition is art, storytelling, sports, public speaking, or what-have-you…I hope that you’ll see the significance of this message, and understand why ArtBloom has adopted a mission to transform embarrassments into inspiration.

…And if you know of a higher quality version of this video that we can host or link to, please let me know. It’s far too good to be left only to YouTube compression. :)
