Moebius Meets Miyazaki

Moebius Meets Miyazaki

This is a brief, yet fascinating conversation between two masterful illustrators – Moebius (Jean Giraud) and Hayao Miyazaki. What I find most interesting is to hear Miyazaki talk about how his work was influenced by Moebius; and also about Studio Ghibli’s bold experimentation with rendering uniquely Japanese environments with a European style, which had a surprising and wonderful effect.

One of my favorite quotes: “I believe one’s view of the world and one’s technique are indivisible.”

Enjoy!

I like how he talked about dimension and light, I need to remember to practice these techniques more.

    Amazing!
Hayao Miyuzaki is one of my role models and this is actually the first time I’ve heard of Moebius–I hope to explore his work as well.
