I’ve been catching up on The Sound of Young America, hosted by Jesse Thorn, by going back through his (several) interviews with notable people. When I heard Jenna Fischer’s interview, I knew right away that I had to share it on ArtBloom.
Jenna talks about how she decided to become an actress, what it was like to start out as an unknown in Hollywood, the doubts that tempted her to quit, and what she learned to help get her first notable job as Pam Beesly on The Office.
My favorite piece of advice that Jenna shares revolves around how to think about rejection when you’re not yet well known. She says to: “go out and collect your NOs. And once you get fifty NOs, then you can start wondering when you’re going to get a YES.”
